videothroughvideoencoding.Theruggedappli-
ancecaninterfacewithawidevarietyofanalog
anddigitalI/Oandcanprocessstandardvideo
formatsupto1080p30aswellascomputer
resolutionsupto1600x1200.AversatileFPGA

independantlycapableofencodeordecode
configurations.Inadecodemode,thecompressed
bitstreamisreceivedbythedaq8580,uncom-
pressedandroutedtoanoutput.Thedaq8580
platformcanbeadaptedtofitvarioussystem
requirementsduetotheconfigurabilityofthe
FPGAandDSPprocessingsubsystem.
Thedaq8580providesseveraloptionsforconfig-
urationandcontrol.Out-of-the-boxanembedded
webserverenablesboardconfigurationvia
standardwebbrowser.ThiscontrolGUIinterface
demonstratestheconfigurableoptionsavailable
ontheboardandallowsforevaluationofthe
variousoperatingmodes.Whenintegrating
intoaruggedsystem,anadvancedAPIisprovided
thatisusedtosendcommandandstatusinfor-
mationtoandfromtheboardoveranEthernet
socketconnection.ThesocketbasedAPIis
compatibleacrossavarietyofoperatingsystems.
